John Whippy Insurance Brokers is one of Sussex' truly independent insurance brokers predominantly serving clients from all around the South East area including Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire and London. A family business that shares a strong passion for treating customers fairly with service excellence at the heart of everything they do.
What core business lines does your brokerage cover?
As general insurance brokers we offer an extensive range of commercial lines products including Life, Health, Property, Contractors and general Commercial Insurance Packages. Our core products include Property, Commercial Combined, Motor Fleet and Contractors.
How are you currently trading amid the Covid-19 pandemic?
The daily commute to our computers has become a lot easier working from home, which fortunately, has not disrupted normal service for our clients.
Were you set up for your team to homework, or has this been a new challenge?
We didn’t previously work from home and were not set up to work from home; however, a quick and seamless transition to remote working has definitely left some food for thought for future working arrangements.
What are your top tips on homeworking?
Maintain a working schedule/routine, minimise potential distractions to stay focused and plenty of exercise to keep a fresh mind!
How have you found business in these unprecedented times?
With many clients in the leisure and hospitality industry, we are aware of just how worried many businesses are about their economic future! Conversely, there are potential new business opportunities where some businesses are looking to restructure and review their insurance requirements – so definitely a double-edged sword!
Which Blink products or services have been most beneficial to your business?
With a comprehensive range of products and services offered by Blink, this has proved invaluable when trying to source access to appropriate agencies and facilities, including Sparta for motor contingency solutions. Blink can also filter through suitable services and facilities, excluding those which either will not suit our business profile or would be inappropriate, thereby avoiding wasting unnecessary time and rationalising our range of providers support.
If there’s one thing we’d like more of from Blink it’s...
Support for our local speedway teams. Perhaps a speedway fantasy league! We are just looking forward to the next time our local own speedway team Eastbourne Eagles have the opportunity to take on Steve Horner’s Coventry Bees once they find a new home!
Finally, as a business you are celebrating your fiftieth anniversary this year, how are you marking this milestone?
Rather than celebrate our fiftieth anniversary with a traditional drinks reception or similar corporate event we decided to set up a charitable foundation to raise money for children’s charities. The launch has been delayed whilst approval is awaited from the Charity Commission before the foundation can be either publicised or even launched. Once the virus lockdown restrictions are fully lifted we have a number of fundraising ideas already being prepared and organised.
