Broker Spotlight
Kimberly Wager

25th September 2019

This month we caught up with Kimberly Wager, Commercial Account Manager of J Willey & Co, an independent, professional insurance brokers with two offices in Yorkshire that has been servicing the region for over 40 years.

What core business lines does your brokerage cover? Lines, Commercial and Taxi.

How do you generate new business enquiries? We generate many new business enquiries by word of mouth. As we have been an established insurance broker for over 40 years, we have a very well-known presence within our area and surrounding region. The main focus within our team is to provide exceptionally high levels of customer service to our clients and this reflects in the number of recommendations we receive.

We also plan visits out to surrounding areas to focus on speaking to potential customers and obtaining leads for new business within the retail sector, shops and offices. We also visit taxi offices and taxi ranks to speak to the drivers and promote our marketing material to contact us when they’re due for renewal. We also promote various products which we offer via social media, this has been very successful.

What do you foresee as the biggest challenges at your brokerage at the moment? Our biggest challenge at the moment is compliance, this is a very important aspect to our business, but does require a lot of time to be taken to ensure we are up to date with changes and current requirements.

How do you plan to grow in the coming year? We have recently recruited two experienced staff members to join our team to continue to focus on offering an excellent service to our clients, also to establish their needs and provide additional products which they may require and cross sell. Our taxi account is growing all the time and we would like to focus on this to continue. We have a very good relationship with our taxi clients and believe this to be as a result of the service which we provide.

Our commercial business is expanding due to the access which we have to a wide variety of schemes via Blink in order to place the business.

What are your marketing plans this year? We are currently advertising in our local newspaper and have obtained many enquiries for personal lines due to the closure of a large insurance broker within our area. We also sponsor our local girls’ football team and have provided their kit which has our company name printed on.

We also advertise within a local estate agent who displays our information on their digital media screen and provide our marketing material to their clients. Our focus for this is to generate more household new business and residential/commercial let property new business.

Which Blink products or services have been most beneficial to your business? We have access to a wide range of products via Blink which have been very successful which include Trident Taxi, Policy Plan, NBJ London Markets, Markerstudy and ABACUS.

If there’s one thing we’d like more of from Blink it’s...  more taxi schemes please!
