Briefly tell us what you do in your current role at GoShorty?
In my current role at GoShorty, I play a vital part in developing, expanding, and maintaining partnerships with insurance agencies, brokers, or other organizations to help distribute short-term car, van, and learner insurance throughout the UK. My role is focused on business development, relationship management and continual improvement for all my partners. I’ve been in this role since the beginning of 2023, and it’s been a fantastic year watching the company go from strength to strength and being a part of that.
How would your work colleagues describe you in three words?
If I were to describe how my colleagues perceive me in three words, I believe they would say I'm collaborative, dedicated, and strategic. Collaboration is essential in my role as I work closely with various teams within GoShorty and external partners. Dedication is crucial in this fast-paced industry, as we continuously strive to deliver the best short-term insurance solutions to our customers. Being strategic helps me in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities that benefit both our company and our partners.
What motivates you to work hard?
What motivates me to work hard is the prospect of creating innovative partnerships that not only benefit our customers but also drive the growth and success of GoShorty. I find fulfillment in knowing that our collaborative efforts have a positive impact on people's lives by providing them with convenient and reliable short-term vehicle insurance solutions. This drive and motivation push me to go the extra mile and explore new possibilities in the industry.
You’re on a work night out at the local karaoke bar…what song are you singing?
If I were to take the stage at the local karaoke bar during a work night out, I'd choose to sing "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. The song's energy and relatable lyrics make it a fantastic choice for an exciting night of karaoke, and it's a crowd-pleaser that can get everyone in the spirit of the evening.
Where is your dream destination to live when you retire?
When it comes to my dream destination to live when I retire, I've always envisioned a cottage in the picturesque countryside of Tuscany, Italy. The rolling vineyards, charming villages, and rich cultural heritage of the region offer a perfect setting for relaxation and enjoying the finer things in life during retirement. (PS I’m a massive history geek)
If you could offer one piece of advice to someone just starting out in the industry, what would it be?
To offer advice to someone just starting out in the insurance industry, I would emphasize the importance of building strong relationships. The insurance industry is built on trust and long-term connections, so nurturing these relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues is key to success. Additionally, I'd recommend prioritizing customer needs as the guiding principle in decision-making and staying adaptable, as the insurance landscape is ever-evolving, and being open to change is essential for sustained growth.
What motivational quote most resonates with you?
A motivational quote that deeply resonates with me is: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that count." - Winston Churchill. This quote reminds me that in the insurance industry, as in life, we will encounter both successes and setbacks. What truly matters is our determination and resilience to persevere in the face of challenges and to keep striving for better solutions and outcomes.
Finally, why is it a great time for brokers to consider a conversation with GoShorty?
It's an excellent time for brokers to consider a conversation with GoShorty because short-term vehicle insurance is on the rise. As our customers’ needs change, so do their insurance requirements. Short-term insurance has so many different use cases from driving home in your new car, borrowing a van to move house, or obtaining your road tax.
